How It All Started

It all started years ago when Russ’s mother who lived in Ft. Thomas was sick and suggested Russ and his family buy her home and move in. At that time, the old Keens general store sat empty for years. Not long after moving back, Russ and his wife, Jani, along with his niece Cathie and her husband McCoy Hawkins started to talk about the potential the old Keens store had.

After many conversations and late-night brainstorms, the four of them decided that it would be a perfect place for a convenience store and family restaurant which came to be known today as Meg’s Place named after Russ and Jani’s daughter Megan who has down syndrome.

After purchasing the building in the summer of 2019 the family wasted no time in turning it into Meg’s Place, and the renovation was finished in November of 2019.

We have always imagined Meg’s Place as a place where everyone can come and feel welcome and loved while enjoying a great meal.
